An app is not tied to the person who submitted it. The submitter is the owner and can invite teammates by email, so a partner team shares one app instead of registering one copy per developer. Membership is managed on the app's Members tab.
Roles
| Owner | Admin | Member | |
|---|---|---|---|
| View the app, activity, quick start, and Playground | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Edit details and redirect URIs, submit scope change requests | Yes | Yes | No |
| Generate or rotate the client secret | Yes | Yes | No |
| Invite people, resend or revoke invites | Yes | Yes | No |
| Change a member's role, or remove a member | Yes | Yes, for members only. Not the owner or another admin. | No |
| Transfer ownership | Yes | No | No |
| Leave the app | No. Transfer ownership first. | Yes | Yes |
Every app has exactly one owner. The Members tab summarizes the roles: Admins can edit the app, submit change requests, manage the client secret and invite other people. Members can only view the app. Your role is shown as a badge on each app in Your apps.
Inviting Someone
- Open the app, Members tab, section Invite someone.
- Enter their Email and pick a Role: Admin or Member.
- Send the invite. You see Invite sent to <email>.
The invitee receives an email, You have been invited to <app name> on Triple Whale, with a link to accept. The form says: They get an email with a link to join this app. The invite expires in 30 days and they have to accept it with this exact address.
Accepting an Invitation
- Open the link from the email. It opens the portal's invitation page.
- If you are not signed in, the portal sends you to sign-up (when that address has no Triple Whale account yet) or sign-in. The invited email is filled in, and you return to the invitation afterward.
- Review the app name, logo, and the role you were offered, then accept. You see You joined <app name> and land on the app.
| Situation | What the page shows |
|---|---|
| Signed in as a different address than the one invited | This invite is for a different account, with a Sign out button |
| Link is malformed or unknown | This invite link is not valid |
| Invite was revoked | This invite was revoked |
| Invite is older than 30 days | This invite expired. Ask for a new one. |
| Invite already accepted | A button to Open the app |
Pending Invites
The Invites table lists invites that have not been accepted yet, including revoked and expired ones. Each row shows a status of Pending, Accepted, Revoked, or Expired, the role offered, when it was sent, and when it expires. An owner or admin can Resend a pending invite (a fresh email, same link) or Revoke it so the link stops working.
Changing a Role or Removing Someone
In the People with access table:
- Change the Role dropdown next to a member to switch them between Admin and Member.
- Click Remove member and confirm. You see <email> was removed.
An admin can manage members only. Only the owner can change or remove another admin.
Leaving an App
An admin or member can leave from the same table. Confirm Leave. You see You left <app name>. The owner cannot leave until they transfer ownership.
Transferring Ownership
- As the owner, click Transfer ownership next to the person who should own the app. They must already be a member or admin.
- Confirm in the Transfer ownership dialog.
The transfer is immediate. They become the owner and you become an admin. You see <email> is now the owner.
If You See a Warning After TransferringOwnership was transferred, but the OAuth client owner could not be updated. Contact Triple Whale support. The app record changed hands, but the credential record did not. Merchants are not affected. Contact support so the new owner can rotate the secret.
Audit Trail
Every invite, acceptance, revocation, role change, removal, leave, and transfer is recorded on the Activity tab. See Activity Log.
Best Practices
- Give teammates Member unless they need to change settings or handle the secret.
- Keep ownership with someone who will stay with the company. Transfer it before an owner leaves.
- Revoke invites sent to the wrong address instead of waiting for them to expire.
